Description: This an extremely poorly understood taxon. Annual or perennial herbs or low shrubs. Leaves opposite or alternate, lanceolate or narrowly lanceolate-ovate, marginal teeth very coarse and obliquely wide spreading. Inflorescence spicate, mostly elongated , few flowered; the flowers sessile or semi-immersed in furrows or excavations in the rachis; flowers opening a few at a time, bluish in colour; fruit schizocarpous, splitting at maturity into 2 1-seeded cocci.
